About Us

 

TAAHP received its Not For Profit Corporation recognition in 1997 by the Secretary of State of the State of Texas, and received its 501(c) (6) recognition by the Internal Revenue Service that same year. Our organization is designed to represent the various disciplines involved in the affordable housing industry.

 

TAAHP works for the passage of legislation needed to design, build, finance, and maintain an adequate inventory of affordable housing for Texans with limited incomes and special needs. TAAHP has been publicly recognized by members of the House and Senate as the most effective force in working for the passage of legislation dedicated to supporting programs that promote quality living for individuals and families throught the United States and Texas.

 

About the TAAHP Board

TAAHP is governed by a board of directors elected by the membership annually with term limits imposed and and is composed of members from several disciplines: owners/developers (for profit and non-profit), lenders/investors, and general membership categories. .The Board of Directors and the Executive Director provide leadership dedicated to providing affordable housing for Texans with limited incomes and special needs. The Board of Directors slate is selected by a nominating committee and posted for the general membership’s support of the slate or to write in a candidate of membership’s choice.  The election is held in July and the new officers are announced at the annual Texas Housing Conference usually scheduled in the last week of July or the first 3 days of the week preceding the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs' (TDHCA) announcement of the Tax Credit Allocations for the following year.
